About Us
Polish Chamber of Books (Polska Izba Książki, PIK), established in 1990, is a commercial self-government institution associating publishers and bookshops, book warehouses, printing houses as well as all other enterprises related to a book market.
The PIK operates on the basis of the Act on Chambers of Commerce that grants strong authority allowing to pursue statutory objectives such as: permanent representation and protection of the branch interests against state institutions, other domestic and foreign organizations as well as to create favourable conditions for publishing output and books distribution.
Polish Chamber of Books belongs to international organization active in the branch – Federation of European Publishers (FEP).
There are four sections within the Chamber that were spontaneously created by the members of the PIK: Academic and Scientific Publishers’ Section, Fiction Book Publishers’ Section, Educational Book Publishers’ Section, Content Distribution’ Section.
